SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego police were investigating a midnight-hour home invasion robbery in Mission Valley, where a suspect pointed a gun at a resident and fled with her purse.

A man climbed onto a second story apartment balcony at The Missions at Rio Vista apartment complex in the 2200 block of Gill Village Way shortly after midnight and kicked in the balcony door to get inside, according to officer Ben Newton.

The woman who lives there was awakened by the noise and saw the man holding her purse. He pointed a gun at her before leaving through the front door, Newton said.

The suspect was described as 5 feet-8 inches tall, 190 pounds and wearing all black clothing.

The woman was not injured.
