SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in San Diego and it's not even Thanksgiving.

Old St. Nick has been on the move as holiday shoppers are no longer waiting for Black Friday or Gray Thursday to get their shopping done.

This year it seems like people are decking the halls and shopping for deals earlier than ever before.

Brian Young, founder of City Lights, has seen a super surge in sales. "This year we got crazy busy in August. We have never been that busy in August and it kept going. If you came in the store last week this time, you just could not move," he said.

Marland Jorgensen is already working on his elaborate Christmas display. No detail gets passed Jorgensen who has worked on the 40-year tradition, Clairemont Christmas Park, for 14 years.

"Tons of people come by to look at it and it's just something to do. It's fun,' he said.

The Clairemont Christmas Park tradition began in 1977.
