3D printing helps build eco-friendly homes

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A San Diego non-profit is using 3-D printing to help change the world by using technology to recycle trash.

A simple concept is helping 4-Walls International build eco-friendly housing in San Diego and all around the world.

The charity's co-founder, Steven Wright, is an expert at using the 'bottle bricks' to construct walls.

The group built walls at the Border Field State Park and they are currently working on another park in San Diego.

"I'm really happy where we are right now and I am excited for the next couple of years. It's going to be a big deal," said Wright.

4-Walls International also operates an eco-toursim business where Americans travel to build homes in developing countries.
