SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The family of a local murder victim is raising money to buy a headstone for their loved one.

Last month, 34-year-old Leticia Arroyo-Reyes was found dead in her Santee townhome - her suspected killer was arrested last week.

Jose Luis Nunez-Torres was already in custody at the San Diego Central Jail for unrelated matters when he was arrested on suspicion of murdering Leticia Arroyo, according to sheriff's Lt. Kenneth Nelson.

The woman's roommate called 911 shortly after 10:30 p.m. on the day of the killing and told dispatchers she was unconscious and had suffered some type of trauma to her upper body.

According to a neighbor, he heard a bang that sounded like a firecracker around 8:15 p.m. on Oct. 4, then saw a man leaving the victim's home.

Deputies and paramedics sent to the home on Mission Greens Road near Mission Gorge Road arrived to find Leticia dead.

Arroyo's cause of death has not been disclosed.

A possible second suspect remains at large, according to police.

Anyone with information on the case was asked to call the sheriff's department at (858) 974-2321 or after business hours at (858) 565-5200. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.

A GoFundMe page has also been set up for donations.
