SAN YSIDRO (CNS) - A motorcyclist was killed in a head-on collision Saturday morning on a San Ysidro freeway after being hit by an alleged drunk driver who was traveling the wrong way.
The collision happened on southbound Interstate 5 near the Dairy Mart Road exit at about 5:15 a.m., when a Mazda 3 sedan heading northbound hit the motorcycle, according to a California Highway Patrol dispatcher. Both drivers were 27-year-old men.
The collision caused the Mazda to spin out and get hit by a Dodge Dakota pick-up truck being driven by a woman who was traveling southbound with three children in the cab.

The woman was hospitalized, but the three kids were not injured, according to the CHP.
The Mazda driver was hospitalized, released and jailed on suspicion of felony drunk driving, vehicular manslaughter and felony wrong-way driving causing death, the CHP said. His identity was not released.
A portion of the freeway was closed for more than four hours while the CHP investigated the crash.
