EL CAJON (CBS 8/CNS) - Two employees of an El Cajon metal shop were hospitalized Sunday afternoon, after a 2-alarm fire broke out at the business adjacent to Gillespie Field.
Heartland Fire received several calls at about noon from witnesses who reported seeing smoke and fire at Precision Metal Products in the 800 block of West Bradley Avenue. When fire crews arrived at the scene, they said they saw heavy smoke coming from the building and found a burn victim outside.
Firefighters from El Cajon, Santee and Cal Fire responded to the fire, a Heartland Fire dispatcher said.
One person was taken to the UC San Diego Medical Center Burn Unit, while a second victim was hospitalized because of smoke inhalation.
Investigators had not yet determined a cause of the fire or assessed the amount of damage that was done to the business.
