Biker reunited with driver who saved his life

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A motorcyclist was reunited Wednesday with the good Samaritan who helped save his life after a crash on a San Diego freeway in September.

Marty Wichmann was riding his 2010 Harley Davidson Ultra Classic on southbound Interstate-15 near Adams Avenue when a black Kia cut in front of him and slammed on the brakes.

Marty hit the car and fell off his bike. The car, which Marty described as a black Kia, left the scene. His 1,000-pound bike had fallen on top of him.

"I was so scared. Cars going by - it was definitely a scary experience for me," he said.

Marty was left injured and lying in the middle of Interstate-15 when along came Scutt Prophete. Scutt drove across the freeway and used his car as a barricade to keep Marty from being hit.

"I could not leave him out there. I know if I did not do something, something bad could have happened - something worse," said Scutt.

Marty and Scutt had not seen each other since that day on September 23rd. It was Scutt who called 911 and waited until firefighters arrived - all while others kept driving by going about their day.

"My daughter and my wife say thank you very much," Marty told Scutt.

CBS News 8 reached out to the California Highway Patrol for a comment but did not receive one regarding the case.

Scutt described the car as a black Kia. Anyone with information is asked to call the police.
