SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Authorities on Thursday released the name of a toddler found dead under suspicious circumstances in an East County neighborhood.

Deputies and medics, responding to a report that a child had stopped breathing in a motor home parked on a residential property in the 300 block of Hunter Lane in Alpine shortly after noon Tuesday, found the body of 18-month- old Leah Brown-Meza, according to sheriff's officials.

"Based on the circumstances and the presence of ... injuries to the victim, sheriff's homicide and child-abuse detectives were called to the scene and have assumed investigative responsibility," Lt. Kenneth Nelson said. Autopsy results in the case have been sealed, the lieutenant said.
