Two men stabbed, two arrested after fight in Pacific Beach

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8/CNS) - Two men were in the hospital and two members of the Navy were arrested after a fight outside a Pacific Beach bar Tuesday night.

Four men in their mid-20s got into an argument outside a bar on Garnet Avenue near Dawes Street that turned physical shortly before midnight, San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros said.

According to authorities, Michael Gallo pulled out a knife and stabbed one man in the neck and another in the abdomen.

Police say Gallo and Conor Manion ran from the scene, but were arrested a few blocks later. Authorities have confirmed that both Gallo and Manion are active duty Naval Special Warfare. Both posted bond and have been released from jail.

A witness says this was a hate crime after she heard two suspects use the 'N' word.

"They got in a fight right here and they turned the corner and said (expletive) I'm going to stab you. I was on the phone with the police," Cheyanne said.

She says she was with a group of four friends at the Cabo Cantina Bar before midnight. She says two men started hitting on her friend. That's when the woman's boyfriend got into an argument.
She says the two suspects stabbed her friends after using racial slurs and ran away while taking their shirts off. Police caught up to them several blocks away.

Paramedics rushed the two stabbing victims to Scripps La Jolla Hospital.

Police identified the suspects after interviewing witnesses who pointed out their tattoos. They were handcuffed and taken into custody, according to the officer.

A Navy spokesperson said that as of now the status of the sailors does not change. They are still active duty.

As of this report, it's not clear what sparked the fight.
