Mom found murdered in Mission Valley office, daughter takes own life

San Diego police are investigating the death of a woman found in a Mission Valley office building.

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A woman reported missing was found shot to death Saturday at an office in San Diego and her daughter apparently committed suicide after learning about the woman's death, authorities said.

The body of the 66-year-old woman was found at 1:22 p.m. inside an office at 3443 Camino Del Rio South, said San Diego police Lt. Mike Holden.

"It was determined the female sustained a single gunshot wound to her body and her death was the result of a homicide," Holden said.

The woman's 34-year-old daughter drove to the scene after learning about her mother's death, he said.

"Shortly after her arrival, the daughter used the restroom of a nearby business. When she failed to return, another family member found her inside the restroom with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.''

Both women were pronounced dead at the scene, he said.

Family members told police the 66-year-old woman was reported missing within the past three days, Holden said.

Anyone with information about the case was asked to call homicide detectives at (619) 531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
