Reps. Issa, Peters talk state of healthcare, reform

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (NEWS 8) - Congressman Scott Peters (D-52) and a bipartisan group of 43 members of Congress unveiled a plan Monday that would slow the growth of health insurance premiums, in what is the first healthcare proposal to garner support on both sides of the isle.

At the end of the day, congressmen like Peters and Rep. Darrell Issa (R-49) agree that compromise between parties is the best way to get things done moving forward, and they each provided examples of this Wednesday morning during a two-part interview with Dan Cohen on News 8 Morning Extra. They didn’t agree on everything, though.

The two representatives talked about the current state of healthcare in the country and in California, its evolution under Presidents Obama and Trump, and answered questions about some of the things American citizens think have gone wrong along the way.

The interview ended with a request from Cohen for each to say something nice about the other, which the two granted gleefully.
