More than 100 evicted from Southern California homeless camp

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. (AP) - Some 150 people are being evicted from a homeless camp near a Southern California river.

Orange County sheriff's deputies and other law enforcement arrived Friday in Fountain Valley to enforce orders to leave a miles-long stretch of dirt trail along the Santa Ana River.

Tents and makeshift dwellings along the concrete flood control channel were dismantled and people packed belongings on bikes or other vehicles.

Nearby residents have complained about trash, drug use and other problems since transients began moving in about a year ago.

The county plans to permanently close the area to the public.

Some residents say they don't know where they'll go while others plan to move north to an area near Angel Stadium in Anaheim that's not covered by the order.
