RIVERSIDE (NEWS 8) — Crews are battling a brush fire in Riverside that is burning dangerously close to hundreds of homes.
It broke out Thursday afternoon near the Santa Ana riverbottom.
Bright orange flames could be seen flickering in the center of thick, black plumes of smoke and just on the other side are rows of houses.
Mandatory evacuations were ordered for a nearby neighborhood.
Firefighters have kept the blaze to just 50 acres and at last check it was 10 percent contained.
