SAN DIEGO — Elizabeth Sanchez is a general assignment reporter for KFMB-TV in San Diego, California. 

“I love learning and being a witness to history, it’s something I get to do every day as a reporter.”

Elizabeth Sanchez brings her passion and curiosity to News 8. Elizabeth has spent her journalism career righting wrongs and pursuing the advancement of truth. At a young age, growing up near Los Angeles, Elizabeth knew she wanted to enter the field of journalism.

As a national correspondent for CBS News, she appeared on CBS affiliates across the country covering the White House, natural disasters, the space shuttle Columbia crash, the death of Michael Jackson, and other major stories.

Following her network assignment, she returned to local news as anchor and reporter at KGTV, San Diego’s ABC affiliate, and started a family. Elizabeth also hosted a national PBS parenting show, A Place of Our Own, that focused on guiding young children to succeed in school and in life.

Elizabeth is a California State University, Long Beach alumna and enjoys teaching undergraduate journalism classes at her alma mater.

She also has a master’s degree from the University of Missouri and is the winner of multiple Emmy awards, a San Diego Press Club award and Golden Mike recipient. In her spare time, Elizabeth appreciates spending time with her two daughters and husband.
