SAN DIEGO (NEWS 8) - Friday is the day that Apple fans have been waiting for since the last phones were released.

Crowds at Fashion Valley were a little smaller for this year’s release, but people in line say it could be becayse so many people already had appointments at the store.

News 8 caught up with UC San Diego student, Frankie Viaggio, who upgraded from an iPhone 6 to a brand new iPhone XS. He says he is excited for the definition of the camera and the talking emoji’s. Users can make their own talking emojis, called memoji’s for "me+emoji", and they will copy your facial expressions as you talk through it.

The new phones come with more new features such as the portrait mode camera on the front and back of the phone as well as eliminating the home button. This allows the phone to unlock via facial recognition and allows the screen to go all the way to the edge of the phone.

The starting price for the iPhone XS is $999 while the iPhone XS MAX rings up at $1,099.
