Police search for suspects after business owner killed in downtown San Diego

A man was killed Wednesday at a flooring company in the East Village district of downtown San Diego and investigators were looking for  two suspects recorded on surveillance cameras.

SAN DIEGO (NEWS 8) — Police searched Thursday for a man and woman recorded on surveillance cameras and suspected of killing a business owner at his flooring company in the East Village district of downtown San Diego.

Police were called to the scene around 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday after a customer of the store reported a dead body at Bottom Price Flooring. Police officers and San Diego Fire-Rescue personnel responded and located an injured male victim. CPR was initiated but the man was pronounced dead just after 4 p.m.

Neighbors in the area told News 8 on Wednesday that the victim was the owner of the business. San Diego police confirmed the identity on Thursday as that of the business owner, 49-year-old Ghedeer “Tony” Radda.

Details on Radda's injuries were not released, and a ruling on the cause of his death was on hold pending autopsy results.

Bob Roblin said the last time he saw Radda was just hours before his death.

“He was one of my best friends,” said Roblin. “One of the best human beings you could meet – good business man, good father, good husband.”

Roblin was among several people who stopped by Thursday to drop off flowers and notes outside the East Village business Radda owned.

"Every time I came in, he would offer me something cold to drink,” said Robert Moreno. “Super nice guy, and it’s just terrible something like this had to happen."

According to San Diego Police, video surveillance footage was discovered inside the business. The suspect is an unknown race male wearing a mask resembling an older woman with gray hair. He was wearing a gray jacket and dark pants.

He was accompanied by a light skinned female with long purple hair - possibly a wig. She was wearing a dark jacket and blue jeans.

The suspects fled the business on foot in an unknown direction. Police released no suspected motive for the slaying.

Radda leaves behind a wife and two daughters. Loved ones say it’s a loss they’ll never be able to understand.

On a GoFundMe page, the family wrote news of his death “is earth shattering and unimaginable.”

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Homicide Unit at (619) 531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.

EDITOR’S NOTE: SDPD has advised initial reports regarding Radda’s injuries and cause of death were incorrect and those details have not been confirmed or released.
