East County: Woman finds stolen items being sold online

An East County woman had her trailer stolen from a storage lot. She used an app to track her trailer, but so far there have been no arrests.

SAN DIEGO (NEWS 8) – An East County woman had her trailer stolen from a storage lot. She used an app to track her trailer, but so far there have been no arrests.

The woman, Barb Mills, said her trailer was packed with tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of valuables. “The used bolt cutters to get the lock off and they hitched it up and drove out here.”

Mills said her son had nearly $50,000 worth of goods inside the trailer. “He had a race bike in there. The suspension alone is $10,000. He had a Rhino in there – a quad.”

Mills said she filed a report with the Sheriff’s Department, but as the days passed she ended up doing her own detective work. Mills found a woman selling several of the items on the popular app, Let Go. “It was kind of strange. I did not really think it was going to happen.”

The app showed the woman had already sold the trailer and the Rhino. After uncovering her identity, Mills notified investigators. Investigators interviewed the woman, but made no arrests.

News 8 reached out to the Sheriff’s Department. A sergeant said the case had and continues to be heavily investigated. According the sergeant, detectives continue to conduct interviews but need more evidence to develop probable cause or to make an arrest.

“I am just frustrated. I feel like maybe not enough is being done,” said Mills.

Deputies asked anyone with information to contact the Sheriff’s Department right away.
