EL CAJON (NEWS 8) – An El Cajon Boy Scout troop that is used to volunteering and helping the community is now asking for the public’s help after two of their trailers containing gear and equipment were stolen just weeks apart.

This past June, Boy Scout Troop 363 had a trailer stolen from the Elks Club – despite the troop’s theft preventative measures. That trailer contained all of their camping gear and supplies in it.

Scout Master Greg Williams said they have no idea who is responsible and the cameras trained to the supply cache had their cables cut.

Just weeks later after the first theft, the troop had their Christmas tree lot trailer stolen, too. Their Christmas tree lot trailer contained supplies and equipment needed to run their Christmas Tree Lot fundraiser in the month of December. The fundraiser, according to the troop, helped fund an entire year of camping, learning and growth for the Scouts – raising anywhere from $10,000 to $15,000.

Despite the back-to-back thefts, some of the Scouts said they are willing to look the other way – if the trailers are returned.

“We're supposed to forgive. This is supposed to be under God and the Boy Scouts are very to that. The bible says that we should forgive and forget,” said one Scout.

The troop is now trying to raise $10,000 over the next few weeks to purchase two Scout trailers, camping gear and the supplies needed for their Christmas Lot fundraiser.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for anyone who wishes to help the boys of Troop 363 continue their journey.
