SAN DIEGO (NEWS 8) - Take your basic jack-o-lantern to a whole new level!
Artist and master carver Monique Hawk has been combining art and pumpkins since 1995. Growing in right here in San Diego, her parents held pumpkin carving parties for the whole neighborhood and she always strived to create the best carving of them all.
One pumpkin turned into many, and slowly but surely the word of Monique's unique niche spread. She entered various contests, news segments, and even the coveted Food Network’s 'Halloween Wars'.
Each year, Monique donates a percentage of profits towards Breast Cancer research.
As most of you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and she wanted her pumpkins to make a difference in the lifespan of other’s ‘pumpkins,' and she calls her movement “Pumpkins for Pumpkins."
