Operation Dress Code aims to help women veterans transition to life after service

Female service members and veterans got the VIP treatment on Saturday in Mission Valley.

SAN DIEGO (NEWS 8) - Female service members and veterans got the VIP treatment on Saturday in Mission Valley.

Operation Dress Code is an annual event that is aimed at helping women in the military transition to the next chapter of their lives by helping them with their resumes, giving them makeup lessons and letting them shop… for free!

At Saturday’s event the veterans each got a personal shopper to help them pick out gently used professional clothing that had been donated by members of the community.

Participants said events like this are great because they often are taking care of so many things that their needs aren’t always met.

Besides clothes there was also jewelry, handbags, and rows and rows of shoes.

After shopping the women took part in workshops that helped them with resumes and Linkedin accounts.

The Operation Dress Code event was not only about helping the women but it is also another way to say thank you for all they do.
