Adopt 8: Denashia imagines having a forever family

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (NEWS 8) —She's an outgoing 7-year-old with a creative mind and Denashia says she can already picture the forever family she'd love to have.

In this Adopt 8, Marcella Lee introduces us to this precocious young girl, with an infectious smile.

In many ways, Denashia is like a typical first-grader, mastering the alphabet to read and write, and making sense of numbers.

But when it comes to the type of "pretend play" kids do at her age - Denashia's make believe world is different from most - her imaginary games center around the family she doesn't have.

Denashia is a spunky 7-year-old who is engaging and outgoing.

Denashia says she would like a family that has kids.

"I like to carry babies, I like to kiss babies,” she said. “They're the best.”

And she said she would be a helpful big sister changing diapers, and feeding and playing with any new siblings.

But first, Denashia deserves someone to take care of her.

The hope is that one day soon Denashia’s imaginary family is replaced by a real life, forever family.
