SAN DIEGO (NEWS 8) - New Years Eve is only a few days away, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t still take a trip and celebrate somewhere tropical, in the snow or in the city.

Whether you have a bucket list trip you want to experience or just a quick trip to Orange County to ring in the new year, LA Travel Magazine has something for you.

Want to stay close to home? Venture to Orange County for NYE SoCal
This 21+ Event at The Nursery by Southwinds. An indoor/outdoor venue with photo opportunities around every corner. Entertainment includes live music, beats by one of LA’s hottest DJ’s Chanel Verdult, a live cirque show, balloon drop and toast at midnight. If skiing is more your thing, Ski & Celebrate at Beaver Creek Resort in Colorado.
At the family friendly event you can ski all day or skate on the ice rink in the village before fireworks shoot off at 6:45 p.m. with the celebration party beginning at 7pm. (tickets required $175-$275)
There will also be a balloon drop, food & beverages, East Coast countdown live stream, DJ, arcade games, kids craft area and virtual reality centers.

For more of a city feel you can skip New York City and head to Boston for First Night, New England’s largest NYE celebration. Admission is free and the event has been going since 1975. Most of the events take place in Copley Square and Back Bay and include beautiful ice sculptures, light displays, live music and an amazing firework display at midnight. Loews Boston offers a special NYE package so you can stay and play without stressing about parking in the city.

 If you want more of an intimate getaway you can head to The Point in Upstate New York on Lake Saranac which was built by the Rockefellers and is super exclusive. The luxurious property offers an array of winter activities from cross-country skiing to snowshoeing and even curling. The property is all inclusive and room rates include all gourmet meals, wine, spirits and afternoon tea service. There is a 10 Course Tasting Menu on NYE, 7 specialty wines, a fireworks display arranged only for the guests over the lake at midnight, massive bonfire with specialty treats and full bar service.

If you want to fully get away and spend New Year’s Eve in paradise, Kauai is the place to go. 
The luxury resort, Timber’s Kauai will host a New Year’s Eve Party Under the Stars. A few miles away at Poipu Beach Park there will be a free family-friendly on the big outdoor screen followed by a grand fireworks show alongside a variety of food trucks.
