SAN DIEGO (NEWS 8) - Traffic near UTC has been a nightmare recently with La Jolla Village Drive and Genesee closed for construction.
SANDAG just released time lapse video that shows the progress crews have been making. The video shows two 95-ton pre-cast beams being set on columns using a crane.
The closure at La Jolla Village Drive and Genesee began last Friday and will continue in place through this Friday, February 15th. The construction is part of the ongoing Mid-coast trolley construction project that will extend blue line service from Old Town north to University City.
All lanes on La Jolla Village Drive will remain closed from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Two lanes will remain open on north and southbound Genesee.
Detours have been set up to help drivers navigate the area.
