SAN DIEGO (NEWS 8) - Donations are pouring into the San Diego Humane Society's Escondido campus for the emaciated dog found last week in San Diego's Bandy Canyon.
The San Diego Humane Society posted an update to social media on "Remington," which is what staff is now calling the pooch. They thanked everyone for all of the sweater donations that will help keep him warm while he recovers. He will start physical therapy Thursday.
When Remington was found and brought into the Escondido campus, he weighed less than 20 pounds and was extremely dehydrated and veterinarians tell News 8 that so far progress for Remington has been slow.
“I wish I could say that we are out of the woods, but we are not,” said veterinarian Dr. Susie Garity, a veterinarian with the San Diego Humane Society. “[In] my more than six years as a veterinarian, I’ve never seen a dog this emaciated. We are doing a lot of physical therapy, trying to strengthen up those muscles, but we are looking at a long journey.”
It could take six months for Remington to be ready for adoption. The San Diego Humane society will continue to take donations of sweaters and blankets for Remington.
