Internet Retailers Offering Great Deals For Holidays

Updated:
In these tough economic times, consumers have stopped going to the malls, and aren't logging on to shop either. Online spending grew by its slowest pace ever last month. It's the latest bad news for stores as they brace for a dismal holiday shopping season.\r\n\r\nSony sold this high definition video camera just a few months ago for $1,200. Now it's $200 less on Sony's own website, but we found it at Abe's of Maine for hundreds less than that - ith free shipping. Prices are dropping fast, but consumers still aren't buying.\r\n\r\n"I'm hoping they go down a lot more," one shopper said.\r\n\r\nSeventy-six percent of consumers say they plan to spend less on presents, which has internet retailers bracing for their worst online holiday shopping season ever, so they're dropping prices to point that could put them - and others - out of business.\r\n\r\n"When prices start to go down, when you have deflation, consumers a lot of the time basically sit back and wait for more bargains, for more sales," San Diego Better Business Bureau President and CEO Sheryl Bilbrey said.\r\n\r\nNot only are retailers lowering prices, but they're doing it earlier than ever, which means some great deals are already out there. But the Better Business Bureau warns you: crooks are also out early as well.\r\n\r\n"Online shopping is growing so significantly every year, and I anticipate we'll see more people really bargain shopping this year. Unfortunately, when they go for the lowest price they're often times going for the con artists out there putting the most popular item online for the most deeply discounted price in order to lure people in," Bilbrey said.\r\n\r\nSo make sure you shop from websites with clear return policies and contact information so you can reach them if there is a problem.\r\n
