More Military Spouses Now Looking For Jobs

Updated:
Whether military spouses on the home front need the money, or just need the company, one woman has made it her mission to do what she can to get them work.\r\n\r\nMilitary wives without kids are usually on the move quite often, and their resumes suffer because of it. News 8 met a woman who specializes in finding the companies that look past that.\r\n\r\nWith a child on the way and a husband overseas, there are plenty of reasons Tamara Pimentel needs a job.\r\n\r\n"I am not a homebody. I have to be out and doing something," she said.\r\n\r\nFor Tamara it's a social issue, but for thousands of military wives, it's also a financial issue. And in today's economy, it's not easy to find any job. Luckily she met a woman who can relate. Jodi Provence is a military wife who helps fellow military wives find work. She helped land Tamara a job in the medical field.\r\n\r\n"I know what its like to be someone new," Provence said.\r\n\r\nProvence works at Adecco Employment in Kearny Mesa. Daily, the company places hundreds of military spouses in jobs all across the country.\r\n\r\n"We have the 'in', if you will, so we are able to be that stepping stone for major organizations," Provence said.\r\n\r\nEven though Tamara has only been working a short time, her husband is expected home soon.\r\n\r\n"I am going to a new area, and Adecco is already talking up there to set me up with employment," she said.\r\n\r\nAdecco also has on-site recruiting centers at local military bases, such as Miramar.\r\n\r\n
