Reservations Suggested to Marry on Valentine's Day

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The San Diego County Assessor/Recorder/Clerk's Kearny Mesa office announced today it will be open on Valentine's Day, which this year falls on a Saturday, for couples wishing to marry or renew their vows.

Appointments are being scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to acting Assessor/Recorder/Clerk David Butler. He said walk-in couples will be served between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the office at 9225 Clairemont Mesa Blvd., but reservations are encouraged.

"Valentine's Day is expected to be very busy, and I strongly recommend couples call in advance to schedule an appointment to minimize their wait time," Butler said. "The calendar is filling up fast, so call right away to schedule an appointment for this very special day."

Appointments can be made by calling (858) 505-6197.

Last year, the County Clerk's office performed 152 wedding ceremonies and issued 151 marriage licenses on Valentine's Day.
