Round Three: Rain, Snow Moves Into San Diego

Posted: Updated:

Another Pacific storm is rolling into San Diego County this morning. As of 2:20 a.m., light rain was falling in the Kearny Mesa area at the News 8 studios.

Totals will be probably a quarter- to a half-inch, the National Weather Service predicts. Overall, the chance of rain today is 70 percent.

The storms that have struck the region since Thursday left several inches of snow on local mountain peaks, generally above 4,500 feet.

Scattered showers fell around the county Sunday but caused none of Saturday's trouble, which included a couple flooded houses in Rancho Bernardo and Spring Valley, trapped cars in high water and numerous traffic accidents.

Julian received the most rain Sunday -- about a third of an inch as of 3:30 p.m., according to the Weather Service.

Most metropolitan areas received no rain at all and the final round of the Buick Invitational was played under occasionally sunny skies.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be partly cloudy and cool. A storm forecast for Thursday could pass to the north.

Watch News 8 from 5-7 a.m. for live team coverage of the storm.
