Sheriff's detectives were trying today to locate victims who had gift cards and tax documents stolen from their Santee mailboxes, allegedly by a 54-year-old postal worker, a San Diego County sheriff's sergeant said today.
Allen Joseph Pitman was arrested last Wednesday after a joint investigation by sheriff's detectives and inspectors with the U.S. Postal Service, Sgt. Thomas Poulin said.
The letter carrier was allegedly found in possession of gift cards and stolen mail that included W-2 wage and tax statements, and social security information for several people, Poulin said.
Anyone in Santee who is missing a gift card and has the original receipt is asked to call detectives at (619) 956-4053.
