Federal Jury Rules On Lawsuit Involving San Diego Police Officers

Posted: Updated:

Should you get paid for checking work-related emails while you're not on the clock? A federal jury has ruled that San Diego police officers should not expect to be compensated.

Eight officers filed a lawsuit regarding overtime pay, claiming they were owed back pay. But a nine person jury decided the city does not have to pay officers for routine tasks, performed before their shifts.

Similar claims are pending for about 1400 other officers.
