"Sample U" Gives Free Samples For Your Feedback

Posted: Updated:
It's a deal everyone can afford, even in these tough times - free stuff! Many of these products aren't like anything you've seen before, and most of them are new. You've heard of advertising, but this is called "try-vertising". You spend just a few minutes of your time trying a product at a brand new place called Sample U, and you get to go home with a bag full of free things.

You can try it before you buy it at the brand new Sample U on the Scripps Ranch campus of Alliant International University. Here, the consumer - or the "try-sumer" - gets a chance to try products from a variety of businesses and then take a survey.

"Will you buy it and how much would you pay for it, they need to know," Sample U President Maria Adams said.

It's a win-win situation. You get free stuff, you get to take home almost everything you try, and companies get your opinion on how to market their products and make them better - extremely valuable information as they fight for your dollars in this tough economy.

"In these times, we find this is going to be an extremely affordable way for them to get the market research they need," Adams said.

This is Sample U's trial period, so they'll only be open for about a week until they have their grand opening in June.

In 2006, the city of San Diego began allowing political campaigns to electronically file their financial reports, giving the public easy access to information on money in city politics. The county of San Diego wasn’t as quick to make the same kind of information available and continues to lag behind the city’s efforts.
