TV Show Gives Search for Escondido Teen National Attention

Posted: Updated:
The television show "America's Most Wanted" joined in the search for Amber Dubois, the Escondido teen who went missing 15 days ago.

Dubois, 14, was last seen walking to Escondido High School when she disappeared.

In addition to the national exposure, the Dubois case has generated tremendous volunteer support. Dubois' family and friend believe the girl is still alive.

Authorities are hoping that someone will notice the pictures of Dubois being distributed and will call police.

On the morning of Feb. 13, Dubois sent four text messages to her grandmother before leaving home for school. She left with Valentine's Day gifts for friends and a $200 check which was a deposit on a school project.

She was last seen near the school's front gate, and officials said she never made it to her classes that day.

On Feb. 14, Dubois' cell phone was turned on for 20 seconds, but it has not been activated since, according to authorities. Escondido police and the FBI are analyzing Dubois cell phone records.

Anyone with information about Dubois is asked to call police immediately.
