Witness Sees Smoke from Plane at Lindbergh Field; No Fire Detected

Posted: Updated:

The Federal Aviation Administration said that a plane that landed at Lindbergh Field Sunday did not have an engine fire.

A witness reported smoke coming from the landing gear of a taxiing passenger jet at Lindbergh Field, but there was no fire.

The Continental 737-800 from Newark, N.J., landed about 11:45 a.m. and someone reported seeing smoke as the aircraft taxied to its gate, said Ian Gregor of the FAA.

The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department dispatched several fire engines, but they were not needed.
