SAN DIEGO — Organizers of the inaugural Wonderfront Music & Arts Festival on Monday made their first announcement of musicians and bands that will perform at the three-day event in November of this year. The festival that will take place on seven stages throughout the downtown San Diego waterfront area will feature an eclectic assortment of artists including: Miguel, Slightly Stoopid, Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals, MGMT, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Walk the Moon, Phantogram, X Ambassadors, and more.

Wonderfront organizers say their mission is to showcase emerging, beloved and local artists all in one lineup. With over 80 artists scheduled to perform, the festival looks to create a unique three-day experience.

A stage named for one of the event organizers, world-renowned skater Tony Hawk, will showcase several punk rock legends and a ramp where Hawk and other pro skaters will perform tricks alongside the musical performances. Tony Hawk’s Huckjam Stage Wonderfront will feature Pennywise, Suicidal Tendencies, X and more.

“I’m excited to bring back the Huckjam format (choreographed and freestyle skating with live music) after 10 years of hiatus, and there is no better place for it than my hometown. I’m proud to be involved with Wonderfront, and it’s been a blast helping handpick the legendary punk bands for our stage,” said Hawk.

Other event ambassadors include San Diego native, pro surfer and environmental activist Rob Machado, and former San Diego Padres pitcher and Hall of Famer Trevor Hoffman.

“I played Street Scene back in the day and I thought it was so cool to have a festival in downtown SD. And now it’s back!” said Machado.

Machado also said he is excited his nonprofit - The Rob Machado Foundation - is a partner of the event and will provide free water refill stations for festival guests.

Hoffman also expressed his enthusiasm at being a part of the festival.

“I’m excited to see San Diego close out the festival season in style with Wonderfront,” he said.

A second unveiling of artists to perform will take place in August, according to event planners. The festival is scheduled for November 22 – 24 with several stages at parks and piers at the Port of San Diego, from South Embarcadero up to Broadway Pier. Tickets go on sale to the general public on June 14 with pre-sales starting June 7.
