SAN DIEGO — From casual cruising speeds to zipping down the race track, Jake and Penny Lane toss out their sluggish VW bus engine for a go kart!

At K1 Speed on Main Street in Downtown San Diego, the racing is elevated to high speeds. Their zero-emission electric go karts reach speeds of up to 45 MPH (25 MPH for the junior go karts) twisting down a 14-turn track. While 45 MPH may not sound that fast cruising down the 805 in the family minivan, it sure seems a lot more intense in a low-riding, quick-turning go kart. These karts are far superior to their gas-powered cousins, providing 20hp electric motors, ensuring that even if you drive a Ferrari to work everyday, you will still feel the darting rush at K1 Speed.

K1 has a lot to offer the entire family with an arcade, massage chairs, billiards and a restaurant known as the Paddock Lounge. This lounge is not just another concession stand, but rather a full-on restaurant where racers can regroup, recharge and refresh between and after dominating the track.

If the K1 in downtown is not in your area the speed track also has locations in Carlsbad, Anaheim and worldwide with 42 total locations total. K1 provides a great time for everyone, whether it be a corporate event, birthday party or just a friendly battle with your friends.
