Pride Month is celebrated each year in June to honor the Stonewall uprising that fueled the fire for a global LGBTQ movement. But each year during the second weekend in July, close to 250,000 people gather in San Diego to celebrate pride, equality and respect for our LGBTQ community. It’s a joyful celebration with a massive parade that would not be possible without the support of sponsors like Blue Shield of California.
San Diego Pride weekend runs July 12-14, with the parade kicking off Saturday morning, July 13 in Hillcrest.
As presenting sponsor of the Pride Parade for the second year in a row, Blue Shield’s Director of Behavioral Health, David Bond, says it reflects the diversity of their workforce and members they serve. For the third year in a row, Blue Shield of California was voted one of the Best Places to Work for LGBT equality on the HRC Corporate index.
