Owning a home was once one of the pillars of the American dream. But San Diegans trying to raise families are finding affordability to be a challenge. Housing costs have risen, but median wages have barely shifted. But an innovative program could make that dream of homeownership a reality. Mission Federal Credit Union has partnered with Landed to help eligible school employees with up to 10% in Down Payment support. In exchange, educators share the risk of the home’s future gain or loss. Dan Helt explains the process and the advantages of this new program designed to help San Diegans achieve that dream of a picket fence.
Throughout the summer months, Mission Fed is also supporting San Diego children. School’s out, but unfortunately hunger is not. Children who rely on free and reduced price lunches throughout the school year find themselves without a reliable place to find healthy meals. For the last three years, Mission Fed has partnered with San Diego Unified to sponsor Summer Fun Café. It bridges the gap, giving kids and teens 18 and younger access to free. freshly prepared meals and snacks. No cost, no registration, no questions asked. The Summer Fun Café will serve more than 300,000 meals to San Diego Children at 57 different sites throughout the city. Mission Federal Credit Union’s Angie Lasagna shares how Mission Fed is stepping up to help San Diego children.
