SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - There's a really good chance you've never seen a dog do this particular trick.
Shaking a paw or playing dead are tricks of the past. Norman the Briard from Georgia is making headlines across the country with his scootering skills, which he picked up in the family's backyard.
Karen Cobb was a stay-at-home mom.
"I had plenty of time to train Norman while (the kids) were at school, so it became my main hobby," Karen said.
It's a hobby that landed them on "The Late Show with David Letterman" as part of his Stupid Pet Tricks segment.
"He got on and things kind of went crazy from there," Karen said.
The phone began to ring, and before Karen knew it, her hobby had given her and Norman a full-time job.
"Then Natural Balance pet foods contacted us, and we joined the Canine Sports Team," Karen said.
The Canine Sports Team includes Tillman the skateboarding bulldog and others. The job has the entire Cobb family now criss-crossing the country and Canada showing off his skills.
So far, Hollywood hasn't come knocking, but hey, if a golden retriever can shoot hoops, there's got to be a part for Norman.
"We're still waiting for the call. He's waiting for his big move -- 'Scooter Dog Saves the Day,'" Karen joked.
If you think Norman's ability to ride a scooter is fantastic, he's actually learning to ride a bike, and also learning to surf. Norman, along with Tillman the skateboarding bulldog, will surf on the first-ever wave pool float as part of the Tournament of Roses Parade in January.
