SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Eleven motorists were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and 12 vehicles were impounded during an overnight driver's license/sobriety checkpoint in downtown San Diego, a police officer said Saturday.
The checkpoint in the 1500 block of First Avenue began at 10:47 p.m. and ended Saturday at 3 a.m., said San Diego police officer Mark McCullough.
McCullough said 1,671 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, with 1,031 of those vehicles being screened by officers. Twenty motorists were detained for a further evaluation of their sobriety.
