LEMON GROVE (CNS) - A 19-year old driver and two passengers, also 19, were hospitalized Saturday with serious but non-life-threatening injuries following a crash in which all three were thrown from the car, according to the San Diego County sheriff's deputies.

The driver of a silver Nissan Altima lost control and the car left the roadway then crashed into an open field at the east end of Mount Vernon Street, near the intersection with Lawton Drive, Sheriff's officials said.

Deputies in Lemon Grove responded to the single-vehicle crash about 2:50 a.m. and found the Altima on its roof and the three men lying outside the vehicle, according to Sheriff's Sgt. Michelle McPhail.

It appeared that none of the car's occupants were wearing a seatbelt, and had been ejected from the vehicle, McPhail said.

The three men sustained significant injuries and were taken to Scripps Mercy Hospital, McPhail said.
