SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - On Friday, May 15, people will leave the vehicles behind for bicycles in observance of Bike to Work Day.

A record 103 pit-stops are planned for the event as thousands of cyclists attempt to log 25,000 miles. That is equivalent to one trip around the world.

Bikers will receive a free t-shirt, refreshments and snacks for stopping by a pit-stop between 6 a.m., and 9 a.m.

Two popular stops include UC San Diego and the San Diego Zoo.
