POWAY (CNS) - An 11-year-old boy was hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries Monday after being struck by a car in Poway while riding his bicycle, authorities said.
The boy was hit in the intersection of Edgemoor St. and Brighton Ave. around 6:20 p.m. Sunday, according to San Diego County sheriff's Deputy Claudia Valencia.
"It appears the collision occurred after the (boy) failed to stop before crossing the street on his bicycle," the deputy said in a statement.
The boy, who was not wearing a helmet or any other protective gear, was transported to Rady Children's Hospital.
The driver of the car was uninjured, Valencia said.
