SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Three burglary suspects are behind bars Saturday following a wild police chase that stretched from Scripps Ranch to Mira Mesa.
"We believe these suspects are responsible for numerous burglaries that have taken place throughout the city of San Diego," Lt. Paul Rorrison said. "I can't go into specifics, but we are confident these suspects are responsible for numerous burglaries throughout the city."
A high speed chase that reached speeds of 90 miles per hour followed by a crash and ultimately a foot pursuit, led to the arrest of three men in Mira Mesa early Saturday.
"Right now, they are all under arrest for the burglaries and felony evading. There's also been some narcotics uncovered from inside the vehicle," Lt. Rorrison said.
The trio are suspected of carrying out more than five dozen burglaries targeting restaurants like Pazzo's in Scripps Ranch.
The pizzeria, as well two other businesses within its shopping center, has been hit three times just in the past week.
"Well, Saturday night they came in through the front window of Pazzo's as well as chili peppers. They were in and out in seven seconds," Bill Feather said.
Surveillance footage shows one of the suspects ripping out the cash register before taking off.
"The first time, they took our cash register which had about $200 worth of money in there," Feather said.
Three days after that incident, they allegedly returned, and cut these phone lines which triggered an alarm.
The third attempt happened Saturday morning.
The men tried breaking in through a back door just as police were conducting an undercover investigation.
"So, luckily tonight one officer was very observant, noticed a suspect vehicle, some peculiar activity taking place outside this location which had been a target on three prior occasions," Lt. Rorrison said.
That observation is what started the three mile pursuit.
Investigators say the suspects are mostly known for breaking in through front windows though video shows two of them on the back side of Pazzo's.
Detectives are now combing through evidence so they can verify what could be one of the largest series-related busts in San Diego.
"Right now, just a lot of follow up to go through to try and put all these cases together...so still a lot of work in front of us," Lt. Rorrison said.
