ONTARIO, Calif. (AP) — A Westminster police officer and a state prison guard have been charged in the rape and kidnap of a Fontana woman.
Officer Anthony Nicholas Orban and Jeff Thomas Jelinek, an officer for the California Department of Corrections, were charged Tuesday with kidnapping to commit another crime and rape.
Prosecutors say Orban abducted a 25-year-old restaurant employee as she left work at Ontario Mills Mall, then forced her to drive to Fontana, raped her and left. Authorities say investigators tied Orban to the crime after his service revolver was found in the woman's car.
Prosecutors say Jelinek stayed behind in the mall parking lot after Orban kidnapped the woman and picked Orban up after the crime. Jelinek is also charged with being an accessory.
