CHULA VISTA (CBS 8) – A section of Olympic Parkway in Chula Vista was shut down for a short time Thursday morning, after a vehicle crashed into a fire hydrant causing a huge geyser.
Olympic Parkway was closed between Brandywine Avenue and Heritage Road around 6:00 a.m.
The driver was rescued from the car and transported to a local hospital.
Crews were able to shut off the water in about one hour and opened up the roadway after 6:30 a.m.
As of this report, there is no word on the driver's condition or the cause of the crash.
