SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The California Highway Patrol logged 231 traffic accidents Friday on the San Diego area's rain-slick freeways and rural roads.

The spate of crashes, tallied between midnight and 4 p.m., compares with a range of 100 to 170 collisions the agency responds to over a typical 24- hour period of fair weather, according to the CHP public affairs.

No reports of serious injuries resulted from the rash of wrecks that plagued the county's roadways this morning and afternoon.
