Baseball, science, and students! News 8 partners with San Diego Padres for Science Education Day

More than 1,900 students, teachers, and parents attended to learn about science and meteorology with Shawn Styles.

SAN DIEGO — San Diego County Office of Education, UC San Diego STEAM Education and Innovate 8 partnered with the San Diego Padres for Science Education Day to teach kids about science and meteorology and engage them in STEAM learning.

Meteorologist Shawn Styles taught about meteorology Wednesday, May 8 along with Alex Tardy from National Weather Service and League of Extraordinary Scientists who also discussed marine sciences.

Jeane Wong, CEO and Founder of the League of Extraordinary Scientists, engineers and Dr. Lisa Zeigler Allen, an oceanographer, introduced the microbial world in our oceans that power life and reminded the students to "stay curious and keep on sciencing!"

San Diego Padres pitcher, Brad Wieck, also attended to discuss the importance of education and encouraged the students to stay in school.
