SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The Coronado Bridge was closed in both directions Tuesday morning, after someone threatened to jump, according to the California Highway Patrol and San Diego police.

The bridge was closed at about 4:25 a.m. "due to police activity," the CHP reported on its website.

The man was taken into custody shortly before 7 a.m., a CHP dispatcher said. Officers began to re-open lanes just after 7 a.m., a dispatcher said.

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) – The Coronado Bridge remains closed Tuesday morning, due to police activity in the area.

According to Chopper 8 live reports, an alternate route for drivers would be south Interstate 5 to Palm Avenue to Silver Strand Boulevard.
