SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Checking out a library book just got a lot easier, thanks to the county library's new check-out kiosk.

The "Library to Go" kiosk is located at the County Operations Center in Kearny Mesa. It offers library cardholders unlimited access to hundreds of the latest books and movies. It is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

"I honestly think that as people become familiar with this, it's going to get very heavy use… the convenience of being able to come here, preorder if you want. If you don't there's a long selection to draw on. This may be the library of the future," County Supervisor Ron Roberts said.

The kiosk is only the second of its kind in the country, and the first on the West Coast.
