ENCINITAS (CNS) - A brush fire on the side of Interstate 5 in Encinitas Saturday prompted the brief closure of two northbound lanes of the freeway while firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze, the CHP said.

The fire was reported at 3:43 p.m., just south of the Leucadia exit, according to the California Highway Patrol, although a North Comm dispatcher was not permitted to say what time it started and could not release details about the blaze.

No information about the size of the fire or the damage it caused was immediately available.
